Repro Screenshots does not collect any data. There is no account, no server, no analytics and no telemetry.
Your screenshots and recordings are created, edited and saved entirely on your own computer. They are never uploaded.
The extension works with no network connection at all.
Repro Screenshots is developed and maintained by Aditya Kumar Tiwari. You can reach the developer at aditya.tiwari1998.s@gmail.com with any question about this policy or about the extension's handling of your information.
Repro Screenshots captures screenshots and screen recordings of your browser and your screen, and lets you annotate, redact, crop, trim and export them. All of that work happens locally in your browser, on your device.
The extension does not collect, store on a server, sell, rent, trade or share any information. Specifically, it does not collect:
There is no backend service associated with this extension. No account is required and none can be created.
To do its job, the extension processes the following locally only. None of it is transmitted anywhere.
| What | Why | Where it is kept |
|---|---|---|
| Screenshot images | The capture you asked for | Your Downloads folder (in a "Repro Screenshots" subfolder) and a local in-browser library (IndexedDB) so you can reopen and edit them |
| Screen recordings | The recording you asked for | Your Downloads folder, plus a temporary local copy in browser storage (OPFS) so the recording can be played back and trimmed without a file picker |
| Camera video | Only for the optional webcam bubble during a screen recording | Not stored separately — it appears in the page being recorded and is encoded into that recording file. The camera is released as soon as you switch it off or stop recording |
| Microphone audio | Only for optional voice narration during a recording | Encoded into the recording file on your device |
| Your settings | Remembering your preferences (capture delay, quality, resolution, frame rate, theme, microphone choice, the display name used for the webcam avatar, auto-delete preference) | chrome.storage.local on your device |
| Page measurements | Full-page capture needs the page height, viewport size and the position of sticky elements in order to scroll and stitch correctly | Held in memory during the capture and discarded immediately after. Page text, form values and credentials are never read |
Both are optional and both are off by default. The extension only requests them when you choose a feature that needs them — the webcam bubble or voice narration — and Chrome shows you its standard permission prompt at that point. You can revoke either permission at any time from the padlock or camera icon in Chrome's address bar, or from Chrome's site settings. Camera and microphone tracks are stopped as soon as you turn the camera off, dismiss the bubble, or stop the recording.
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
tabCapture | Record the current tab as video |
desktopCapture | Capture a screen, window or another tab, always through Chrome's own picker |
offscreen | Host the video recorder, which cannot run in a Manifest V3 service worker |
downloads | Save the finished capture to your Downloads folder |
storage, unlimitedStorage | Keep your settings and your local capture library; video exceeds the default storage quota |
activeTab, tabs | Identify which tab to capture and open the extension's own editor and library pages |
contextMenus | Provide right-click capture shortcuts |
| Access to websites you visit | Capture the visible tab and display capture tools on the page you chose — the region selection overlay, the countdown, the webcam bubble and the recording control bar. Used for nothing else |
There are none. The extension contains no third-party analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting libraries, loads no remote code or fonts, and makes no network requests of any kind. Nothing is sold or transferred to any third party, and no data is used to assess creditworthiness or for lending.
Because everything is local, you are always in control:
The extension is a general-purpose utility, is not directed at children, and collects no information from anyone, including children under 13.
If the extension's privacy practices ever change — for example if an optional cloud feature is added in a future version — this policy will be updated before that version is published, and the "last updated" date above will change. Material changes will also be noted in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
Questions, concerns or requests about privacy can be sent to aditya.tiwari1998.s@gmail.com.
